01 / Is it an emergency?

What counts as an
electrical emergency

Some faults are inconvenient. Others are genuinely dangerous. These are the calls we treat as urgent — and if yours is on this list, switch off and phone us first.

Total loss of power

The whole house is dead but your neighbours still have power? The fault is likely on your side of the meter — switch off your appliances and give us a call.

Burning smells or scorching

A fishy or burning smell, discoloured sockets or a warm fuse board point to overheating connections. Switch off at the consumer unit and call straight away.

Tripping that won't reset

If the RCD or a breaker refuses to reset, something is genuinely wrong on that circuit. Don't keep forcing it — that protection is doing its job.

Lost sockets or lights

One circuit down while the rest of the house works usually means a failed connection or a faulty appliance dragging it out. We'll trace it and fix it.

Storm or water damage

Leaks, floods and storm damage can leave circuits live and dangerous. Keep clear, isolate what you safely can, and get it inspected before switching back on.

A dangerous discovery

Found botched wiring mid-renovation, drilled through a cable, or uncovered something that doesn't look right? Stop work and have it checked before anyone gets hurt.

02 / Before we arrive

What to do right now

A few simple steps can keep you and your family safe while help is on the way.

  • Switch off at the consumer unit

If you smell burning, see scorching or hear crackling, flick the large main switch on your fuse board to off. It's usually in a hallway, cupboard, garage or under the stairs.

  • Don't touch exposed cables

Treat any bare, damaged or scorched cable as live — even with the power off. Keep people and pets well away and never attempt a repair yourself.

  • Keep electricity and water apart

If water is coming through near lights, sockets or the fuse board, switch off the affected circuits — or the whole board — and leave everything off until it's been checked.

  • Call us and describe it

Tell us what you can see, hear and smell. We'll give you straight advice on the phone — including whether it's safe to wait — before anything else.

03 / When you call

What to expect when you call

We won't promise the impossible — but we will answer honestly, treat urgent faults as urgent, and never leave you with a dangerous installation.

  • You reach a local electrician

We're based just outside Tonbridge and work across West Kent every day — so you're talking to a nearby team, not a national call centre.

  • Straight advice on the phone

We'll tell you honestly whether it needs urgent attention or can safely wait — and exactly what to switch off in the meantime.

  • Make safe comes first

On arrival, our first priority is making the installation safe. Then we trace the fault to its cause and explain it in plain English.

  • A proper repair, certified

No botched patch-ups. Repairs are done properly, tested, certified where required, and backed by our 12-month labour warranty.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the fault. Burning smells, scorched or hot fittings, exposed cables and tripping that won't reset all need attention straight away — switch off at the consumer unit and call us. A single dead socket or a light that's stopped working can usually wait a day or two. If you're not sure, call us and we'll tell you honestly.

If you smell burning or see scorching, turn off the main switch at your consumer unit (fuse board). Never touch bare or damaged cables — treat them as live. Keep everyone away from water near sockets or fittings. Then call us on 01732 361827 and describe what's happening — we'll talk you through the next steps.

We'll always be upfront before any work begins. Once we've found the fault, we explain what's wrong in plain English and agree a clear fixed price for the repair — no vague day rates and no surprises added afterwards.

Yes. We work with homeowners, landlords, letting agents and local businesses across West Kent, and we provide the certification and paperwork you need for compliance after any repair.

Often, yes. Describe what you can see, hear and smell and we'll give you a straight answer — whether that's 'switch off and we'll come out' or 'that's safe to leave until tomorrow'. We'd rather give honest advice than an unnecessary call-out.

Our first job is always to make the installation safe. Many faults can then be repaired there and then; where parts or bigger works are needed, we'll leave everything safe, explain the options and agree a fixed price for the follow-up work.
